  1. Kababaihan, a Manila based NGO focusing on women organized a National Women’s Forum primarily to document and consolidate the efforts made by women organizations in the regional level and at the same time formulate a 3-year Action Plan to even more strengthen the initiatives in promoting gender and development. The participants, who were all representatives of women organizations in the provinces successfully came out with a very workable Action Plan. Trina, in-charge of the Women’s Desk of Kababaihan was tasked to monitor the progress of the efforts made in the regional level. With the absence of a systematic feedback mechanism, Trina had a difficult time tracking down and documenting the works done in promoting the cause of women in the countryside. With the development of a Women’s Portal, women’s organizations will be linked together, in terms of data sharing, networking and information facilitation. In this light, it will be easier for Trina to do her monitoring task.
  2. And in the long run, information technology will be maximized to support the growth and multiplication of women’s organization and women’s initiative in the country.

  3. Jane is a battered wife. She was advised by her colleagues to report the matter to the police. Jane refused knowing the capability of the PNP personnel in-charge of handling such cases. An office mate of Jane who happened to access the Wide Women’s Portal told Jane that the web site offers information that might help her in her plight. Jane decided to visit the site and there she discovered the presence of some NGOs and women’s organizations that she can turn to. With the help of www.wwp.org, Jane found a friend to lean on.
