Dear all! Now we begin the last leg of our preparation for the trainers' meeting. The fun starts. I hope. Majority of the members of the working group will be attending the trainers' meeting. I know how busy everybody is, but I hope we can all partcipate in the online preparatory discussions. Those who are in the traininng working group who will not attend the meeting are also encouraged to partcipate in the online preparations. You all know who you are. Your input are as valuable and as valued as those of the WENT trainers. I will also encourage everybody to cc: Nani Buntarian <naninani@rad.net.id>, and Sara Escandor <sescandor@yahoo.com> when posting mesages relevant to the prepations for both the trainers' meeting and WENT2000. Nani and Sarah are not on aworc-train mailing list, and I cannot subscribe them at the moment because I think we need to ask aworc-meet about this. I am not so sure about the process, and perhaps this is one issue that can be taken up later on in the main aworc body. It is also tempting to set up another list for the WENT2000 trainers, but I think that the whole process can benefit from the participation of everybody-- including working group partcipants who are not in the training team. In any case, this communication arrangements among the track leaders and trainers will have to be sorted out during the trainers' meeting. In the meantime, I will just have to forward Nani's and Sarah's messages to the working group To Nani and Sarah, welcome to the WENT2000 trainers' loop. I hope you're not too shy to introduce yourselves and to actively participate in the online prepartions for the trainers' meeting. I would like to ask everybody to confirm first the following points before we begin the discussions on the day-to-day schedule of the meeting. It will be very difficult to back-track on some basic arrangements about the what, who, when, where and why once we have started on the schedule and the logistics. In other words, we need consensus on the following items before we can proceeed with discussing the detailed schedule of the meeting, and other necesary prep work for the meeting. DATE OF MEETING 25-29 April 2000 Arrival of Participants: evening of 24 April 2000 (at the latest) PARTICIPANTS Trainers and Support Staff: 1. justina (c2o, apcwnsp, australia) - web track leader 2. sangkyung (apwinc, south korea) 3. selenge (wirc/gcsd, mongolia) 4. pi (isis, philippines) - working online track leader 5. chat (apcwnsp, philippines) 6. nani (indonesia) 7. rhona (isis, philippines) - database track leader 8. zailan rose (arrow, malaysia) 9. sarah (philippines) 10. cheekay (aworc staff) 11. apwinc staff (for logistics and communications support) 12. isis staff (for logistics and communications support) Guest: 1. yukie hori (escap) Other member of aworc who have asked to join the meeting: 1. yukika (jcanet, japan) * note: others in aworc may also wish to join the meeting, but at the moment accomodation of additional partcipants outside the priority list depends on the availability of funds. isis manila is project proponent of the trainers' meeting which is being funded by escap. there may be other moneys --old and new funds-- that can be tapped to fund additional participants but it depends on aworc-meet, which is the policy making body of the network. as organizer of the trainers' meeting, my concern is to get the nine trainers and the support staff to Manila. :-) OBJECTIVES OF THE MEETING The following objectives have been run through aworc-meet, but we can still do some finetuning if its necessary. It will be the basis of tje day-to-day schedule that we will work on in the following days. 1. to develop an over-all training design and course outline for the training workshop. 2. to come up with a logistical and communications plan for the training workshop. 3. to promote team-building among the members of the training team. Okay that's it basically for now. I await your words of widsom. Energized but not feeling quite fearless, Pi Villanueva ps. as a mental appetizer, perhaps we can all revisit the documentation of the WENT99 Trainers' Meeting in February 1999.
