Hi again, i'll be posting separately to aworc-meet about my communicaton with Japan foundation (Mr.Kobayashi) and my/our recommendations. am hoping to get a quick feed back here to work out several options for aworc-meet as well as for further consultation with Mr. Kobayashi. >the announcement does say that we focused on B+ 5 last year. could we say >that we would welcome/encourage/identify women who have been active in the >review to apply for the course? does this have to ne spelt out in the >announcement or is this text for the proposal? pointing to those who have been active in the review could be helpful. but better if we can somhow put it in the context of b+5 follow-up activities since Japan Foundaiton (namely, Mr.Kobayashi) had funded this proposal for it's linkage with NGOs providing B+5 input. wonder if you have any ideas around this? >we could also say that AWORC's B+5 activities has resulted in more >awareness and more widespread use of ICTs and that WENT 2000 is a way to >consolidate this participation by training more women to work online, manfe >websites and set up databases. hope that helps. "more awareness and more widespread use of ICTs (for NGO working towards generating B+5 input)" will definitely come into the mid-term evaluation report and i agree that WENT2000 is a way to consolidate this participation. However, the point is that it will be taking place after Women2000. i'm looking for some more words to descrive the project outcome (product) to justify funds within the context of B+5. Else, i'm afraid that it could be dificult to justify/negotiate the funding... let me jot down some of the rough ideas that's popping up in my mind... - train the ones who will be working on/have worked on B+5 translation ?? - use some of the money for sending selected WENT1999 participants for on the job training with womenaction media team / APWW Caucus / etc and have them share their experience in went2000... ?? - have trainees create information package (CD-ROM) of the B+5 materials for distribution to those involved in their country (ngos, loc.gov, gov, etc.) ?? - spend some money for post B+5 information package production?? - spend some money for pre-Women2000 training in New York?? - etc?? >when is the deadline? and will we know if they'll fund it in time for the >workshop? I'd guess it would take two month or so until fund can be disbursed, so better if we can submit earlier. Hope to get the proposal out soonest but realistically speaking, i'm aiming for submission by 29th. (end of this month should be the latest because it's the last day of fiscal year in Japan.) In the mean time, i'll be sounding out Mr. Kobayashi on what is/isn't fundable while keep him fed with financial report and a copy of the CD-ROM from WENT1999. =============================================================== AWORC-TRAIN is the workspace of the Asian Women's Resource Exchange for its training-related initiatives.
