hi yukika,
i hope your hard disk is still going.

Yes, I would like to see your communication to get a better feel of waht
they want. I also think that it is a good idea to have this discussion in
aworc-meet to get some agreement about activites to seek funding for. In
fact this can tie in with our discussion on our priorities for the
UNGASS.

I think we should go back to our 2 year action plan to guide us in our
fundraising. If you go back to the minutes, our agreement was that we
have to focus on B+5 follow-up activities to ensure continuity of
our B+5 campaign. I would suggest that rather than expanding activities
for the special session in June, we identify activities in our action
plan that fits in with B+5 follow-up.
Here's what we said in our meeting (quoted from the minutes):
- For the Special Session in June, AWORC has approved funding to send 3
people (one from UNIFEM and 2 from IDRC). There was agreement on a major
activity and general guidelines for the June meeting with an
understanding that these will become clearer after the CSW and when
planning for the special session are underway. The agreements were:
1. Launching of the redesigned AWORC multilingual website.2.
Coordination with WomenAction for the information and communication
activities and with APWW for regional actions.
From the information we are receiving regarding the Special Session, it
looks like it will be difficult for many women to participate directly in
the proceedings.
Looking through the minutes again, here are some activities that may be
suitable for June:
-- translation of the WomenAction newsletter (which is certain to go
ahead) in several Asian Languages -- as part of our onsite reporting
(similar to this idea? -- train the ones who will be working on/have
worked on B+5 translation ??)
perhaps we can ask for money to hire women to translate in several
languages who do not necessarily have to be in NY, these can then be sent
to language specific mailing lists and also uploaded to the site.
and suitable as B+5 follow-up:
-- translation of our baseline research in various languages
-- archiving/indexing of our B+5 content
-- CD/ROM sounds good
-- documenting our B+5 experience -- can be used as a resource and
training material for WENT 2000

Good idea, would you sound out if they would be interested in funding the
multiligual database? We could use more resources for this -- for
follow-up after WENT.
