Asian Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (ARROW) Malaysia

The Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women (ARROW) was established in January 1993 as a regional non-governmental, non-profit women's organisation based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ARROW's current programme focus is on women and health, in particular reproductive health.

As a resource and research organization, ARROW provides practical information and resource materials to strengthen initiatives to re-orient health, population and reproductive health policies and programmes with women's perspectives and gender analysis. It works with local, national ad global women's organizations and networks to improve the capacity of women NGOs in Asia and the Pacific to influence health, population and family planning organisations at national, regional and international levels. ARROW also facilitates the generation and utilisation of new information and analyses on policies, programmes and organisations related to women's health through collaborative research.

Since 1993, ARROW has produced a number of innovative publications including its thematic bulletin, an information package series and an annotated bibliography series to assist in its aims to re-orient health and population policies and programmes, as well as build the capacity of women NGOs.

ARROW has established a computerised Documentation Centre with a specialised collection on women and health, in particular reproductive health, which has promoted information services and other outputs. In the area of research, ARROW has carried out a grassroots research project which "listens to women's voices" on their health and rights as part of a seven-country study project and another research on changes that have taken place in population policies and programmes after the 1994 International Conference and Development in Cairo.

ARROW's activities and publications are aimed to reach out to all organisations and individuals in the Asia-Pacific region who are working or are interested in addresing women's issues, particularly women's health and their rights.

ARROW runs a mailing list which provides timely and relevant information to various sectors involved in education, media, policy work, governance, and community development.
